Privacy Policy for Cue
Effective date: 3 November 2026
Last updated: 3 November 2026
Cue is a teleprompter app for iOS and Android. This policy explains how information is handled when you use Cue, including Voice Follow, document import, and optional Pro purchases.
1. Who is responsible
Cue is provided by Oleksandr Nikitin, located at John-Heartfield-Str. 19, 12619, Germany (“we”, “us”, or “our”). We are responsible for personal information we process in connection with Cue.
For privacy questions or requests, contact frameslabsupport@gmail.com.
Apple, Google, your selected Android speech provider, and any cloud storage provider you choose also process information when you use their services. Their privacy policies apply to that processing.
2. Our approach to privacy
Cue does not require a Cue account. We do not operate a server that receives your script library or microphone recordings. The app does not include advertising, third-party advertising trackers, or app-integrated analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
This does not mean that every feature operates without external services. Optional online speech recognition, app-store purchases, language downloads, device backups, and cloud-file selection can involve the platform or providers described below.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use your scripts or recordings to train our own AI models.
3. Scripts, imported documents, and settings
Cue stores your script titles and text, creation and modification dates, reading positions, formatting, preferences, appearance presets, and control bindings in app storage on your device. Imported scripts can also retain the source document’s filename and supported formatting information.
When you choose a document using the system file picker, Cue reads the selected file and processes its contents on your device. Cue does not upload the document to a conversion service. If you select a file from a cloud storage provider, that provider may download the file to your device under its own terms and privacy policy.
Cue does not automatically synchronise your library between iOS and Android. Your operating system may include app data in backups or device transfers, depending on your settings. These copies are managed by the relevant backup provider, not by a Cue-operated cloud service.
4. Microphone access and Voice Follow
Voice Follow uses microphone audio and recognised speech to match your spoken words to your script and advance the teleprompter. Microphone permission is requested when you start using the feature. iOS also requires speech-recognition permission.
On-device recognition: When Cue uses an available on-device recognizer, speech recognition runs locally. Recognition availability depends on your operating system, device, language, installed models, and speech provider.
Online recognition: If you enable online recognition or approve the online fallback, audio and related recognition requests may be sent to Apple on iOS, or to your selected system speech provider on Android. The provider processes those requests and returns recognised text. Cue uses that text locally to follow your place in the script. Cue does not send your full saved script library as recognition context.
Cue does not save microphone recordings or create a persistent transcript history. Audio buffers and recognition results are used temporarily during recognition. Stopping Voice Follow stops Cue’s active recognition session; it does not delete information a provider may already have received.
Providers determine their own server-side processing, retention, and any service-improvement uses under their policies and your provider settings. We cannot promise that an online provider retains no audio or transcripts.
You can pause Voice Follow, disable online recognition, or revoke microphone and speech-recognition permissions in your device settings. Manual and automatic scrolling remain available without microphone access.
5. Language availability and downloads
Cue queries platform speech services for supported languages and, where the platform provides it, online, offline, installed, and downloadable-model availability. Requesting an offline model download contacts the platform or speech provider and uses your network connection. The provider may process ordinary connection and device information needed to deliver that model.
Downloading a language model is separate from granting microphone access. Downloaded models and their removal are managed by the operating system or speech provider.
6. Purchases and purchase restoration
Optional Cue Pro purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Cue does not collect or store your payment-card number, bank details, or app-store password.
The app processes purchase and entitlement information supplied by the store, such as product identifiers, transaction or purchase tokens, purchase status, and verification information, to unlock Pro and restore access. Android stores a signed purchase receipt locally and checks it when determining access. iOS uses StoreKit’s verified transaction and entitlement information.
The app store retains its transaction records under its own policies and applicable obligations. Deleting Cue does not delete the store’s purchase history. We may also receive transaction, financial, or aggregated sales reports made available to developers by the store.
7. Support and platform diagnostics
If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message, attachments, and troubleshooting details. We use it to respond, investigate problems, and maintain relevant support records. Please avoid sending sensitive script content or recordings unless necessary for your request.
Support messages are handled through Gmail, provided by Google. We do not automatically receive the contents of your local script library when you contact support.
Apple or Google may make platform-managed diagnostic, crash, performance, or sales information available through their developer services, depending on platform practices and user settings. This is separate from an analytics SDK built into Cue. We use any such information we receive to maintain the app and investigate faults.
8. Sharing and external displays
Information is handled by external services only as needed for the functions described in this policy: speech recognition and downloads, purchases, selected cloud files, backups, support, and platform services. We may disclose information we actually hold when legally required, or when necessary and lawful to address fraud, security incidents, or legal claims.
When you connect an external display or use screen mirroring, script content can be visible on that display and to people who can view it. Your device and display connection determine how that output is transmitted.
9. Retention and deletion
- Scripts and settings: Remain in local app storage until you delete the relevant content or remove the app’s data. Delete individual scripts through the library. On Android, clearing app storage removes local app data. On iOS, deleting the app removes its local app container; offloading the app can retain its data.
- Original documents: Deleting an imported script does not delete the original file from Files, Downloads, or your cloud storage.
- Backups: Existing backup copies may remain after local deletion. Manage them through your device or backup provider. Restoring a backup may restore previously saved app data.
- Voice data: Cue does not persist recordings or a transcript history. Online-provider retention is governed by that provider’s policy and controls.
- Purchase information: Local receipt or entitlement information is retained as needed to maintain access and can be refreshed or restored from the store. Store-side purchase records follow the store’s retention rules.
- Support and business records: We retain information we receive for as long as needed to resolve the request, manage related follow-up or disputes, and meet applicable legal obligations. We delete or anonymise it when those purposes no longer require retention.
We cannot remotely access, retrieve, or delete scripts stored only on your device. There is no Cue account to close. Contact us to request deletion of support information or other personal information we actually hold; some records may need to be retained for legal reasons.
10. Legal bases and your rights
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on the following grounds as appropriate: performance of our agreement with you for requested app functions and purchase access; consent for optional microphone and online speech features; legitimate interests in responding to support requests, maintaining the app, and protecting against misuse; and legal obligations for required records or disclosures.
You may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or obtain a portable copy of personal information, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. These rights depend on the processing and applicable law.
Contact us using the email above. We may request proportionate information to verify a request. You may also complain to your local data-protection supervisory authority. For information held independently by Apple, Google, or another provider, use that provider’s privacy controls or request process.
Cue does not use personal information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
11. International processing
Online speech, purchases, cloud storage, backups, and support services may process information in countries other than your own. The relevant provider’s privacy notice explains its locations and transfer safeguards. For any international transfer for which we are responsible, we will use a lawful transfer mechanism where required, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards.
12. Security
Cue uses the operating system’s app-storage protections and platform permission controls. Purchase access is based on verified store information. Protect your device, backups, and accounts with appropriate security settings. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
13. Children’s privacy
Cue is a general-purpose teleprompter and does not ask users to provide their age or create a profile. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us, contact us so we can review it and take appropriate action, including deletion where required. Parents and guardians can manage microphone access, purchases, and device use through platform controls.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where required. If a change requires consent, we will request it before the relevant processing begins.
